The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Zachary Smith as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on January 20, 2026, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Zachary is a senior at Warwick High School and lives in Lititz with his parents, Jennifer and Michael Smith.
Zachary is an accomplished student who has earned placement on the Distinguished Honor Roll every year of high school. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Zachary is actively involved in several school organizations. He is a member of the Computer Science Honor Society (CSHS), where he works to strengthen his own skills while also encouraging other students to explore computer science. Through CSHS, he has participated in events such as the club’s annual mini-golf fundraiser and STEAM Night. He is currently involved in a project using micro:bits to develop a small vehicle for an in-person game similar to car soccer, helping to promote creativity and interest in technology among students.
During his senior year, Zachary joined Science Olympiad, where he competes in Engineering CAD and Experimental Design. He values the teamwork and problem-solving skills the program promotes and appreciates the opportunity to expand his understanding of scientific concepts.
Zachary has also participated in Envirothon since his junior year. Through this program, he has gained greater awareness of environmental issues and engaged in hands-on, team-based learning focused on wildlife, aquatics, forestry, soils, and current events. His team earned second place at the county level last year. As part of his involvement, Zachary has also participated in local outdoor cleanups and service projects.
Since his freshman year, Zachary has been an active member of Warwick’s Esports club. He has helped Overwatch teams earn second- and third-place finishes in their division and currently serves as captain of the Rocket League team, which recently placed fourth. He hopes to continue improving the team’s performance in the upcoming spring season.
Looking ahead, Zachary plans to major in robotics or mechanical engineering and is considering attending the University of Pittsburgh, Lafayette College, or Millersville University. He has a strong interest in computer science and artificial intelligence and hopes to combine his experience in both fields as he pursues his future career.
Zachary credits much of his success to the teachers who have supported and encouraged him throughout his academic journey. He is grateful for the learning environments they have created and the inspiration they have provided to continually grow and improve.
The Lititz Rotary Club is proud to recognize Zachary Smith for his academic achievements, leadership, and dedication to his school and community.
