The Rotary Club of Lititz recognized Jonah Ahlers as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on March 26, 2024, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Jonah, a Warwick High School senior, is the son of Ann and Keith Ahlers Jonah.
 
Jonah is an academic achiever who has demonstrated academic excellence during his time in the Warwick School District. He has received recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll each year and Jonah’s strong academic efforts have earned him membership in the National Honor Society, the French Honor Society, the English Honor Society, and the Warwick High School Tri-M Music Honor Society. Jonah has also achieved Extremely Well Qualified test scores for Advanced Placement Calculus, Music Theory, World History, US History, and Biology.
 
Also at Warwick, Jonah is a member and Co-Founder of the Poetry Club and is a former President of the Debate Club. He performs with the Warwick High School Concert Band, the Symphony and Pit Orchestras, and the Choir and Chamber Choir.
 
Jonah also enjoys playing soccer and plays with the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association.
 
He has received The Union League of Philadelphia’s prestigious Good Citizenship Award, which is awarded to young men and women who demonstrate exemplary qualities of the following: Cooperative effort, Self-control, Perseverance, Serious scholarship, and Good Sportsmanship!
 
Jonah's primary interest is in music and particularly music of the Baroque Period. His main instrument is the flute, but he also plays piano, harpsichord, organ, and sings.
 
Jonah has had many special music experiences, including classes at Julliard, Oberlin Conservatory, Amherst Early Music Festival Baroque Academy, and Carnegie Mellon. He has studied Modern Flute with Michelle Barraclough and Baroque Flute with Benedek Csalog and Dr. Steven Zohn. Jonah has also participated in Masterclasses with Christopher Krueger, Michael Lynn and David DiGiacobbe.
 
Other music experiences for Jonah include performing with the Allegretto NextGen Youth Chamber Symphony of Lancaster, the Allegro Chamber Symphony Orchestra of Lancaster, PMEA District VII and Region V Bands, the PMEA State Wind Ensemble, the LLMEA County Band and Orchestra, the Amherst Early Music Festival Opera Orchestra and the Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Millenium Symphony Orchestra and other special groups.
 
Jonah is a Solo Flutist at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church and has performed professionally at several Lancaster County churches and with the Allegro Chamber Symphony. He has also performed in the pit orchestra at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center.
 
When looking beyond his time at Warwick, Jonah has applied to five music conservatories, including Oberlin, Temple, McGill, Peabody, and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. His goals are to perform and teach music and the history of music.
