The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Payton Gooding as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on January 23, 2024, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Payton is a Warwick High School senior and the daughter of Michelle and Reed Gooding. Payton is an academic achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during her time in the Warwick School District. She has earned recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll each year. Payton’s strong academic efforts have earned her membership in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Computer Science Honor Society, and the English Honor Society. She also earned first place in the Pennsylvania Media and Art Competition for a digital movie project. Also at Warwick, Payton has demonstrated strong leadership as President of her class since her freshman year and most recently served as Captain of the Warwick girls soccer team. Payton also had the privilege of being a Teacher's Assistant (TA) for Mrs. Rakiewicz, a broadcasting and English teacher at the high school. Payton expresses great admiration for Mrs. Rakiewicz and is grateful for the lessons learned in broadcasting classes. She is also looking forward to serving as a TA for Mr. Neuman who has influenced Payton to excel in more challenging classes. Payton is an active volunteer and served as a camp counselor for youth soccer camp during the past two summers. The week-long camp, organized by Warwick, brought together aspiring girl athletes to train with the girls' high school soccer team for two hours each day from Monday to Thursday. She also participated in a Special Olympics Game Day and volunteered at the rubber duckie race for the Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development. During the holidays, Payton helped wrap gifts for families in need. She also volunteers with multiple adopt a highway events. Over the past three years, Payton gained gained valuable work experience at Philly Pretzel Factory, where she assists customers and developed skills in handle food preparation. In the future, Payton expects to attend Savannah College of Art and Design and major in film and television. She has a strong interest in the creative realm of the film industry, and aspires to become a movie director or editor and pursue her passion for storytelling and visual arts.

The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Ethan Zipko as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on November 15, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Ethan is a Warwick High School senior and the son of Lisa and Brian Zipko. Ethan is an academic achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during his time at Warwick by earning recognition as a member of the National Honor Society, earning designation on the Distinguished Honor Roll each year, and ranking academically in the top 10 of his class. He has also been recognized with an honorable mention at the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair and earned a runner up award in Material Sciences at the Warwick Science Fair. Ethan has also been recognized as a Scholar Athlete with the Warwick Football team and is a three-time member of the All-Academic Team Gold for football. In addition to academic excellence, Ethan is an outstanding athlete. He plays center and is captain on the football team as well as being a first baseman and pitcher for the Warwick baseball team. Ethan is grateful that he and his teammates have been able to compete at a championship level. To exemplify the Rotary value of “Service Above Self”, Ethan is involved with youth football and baseball and has helped coach and teach skills to players in both sports. He has also helped coach youth league flag football. When not involved in sports, he is a tutor. As a member of the National Honor Society, Ethan has supported the community by visiting retirement homes, helping to make and distribute meals during Thanksgiving and providing presents for children during Christmas. In the summer he often works on his grandparents New Jersey farm, does landscaping. Ethan has a strong interest in photography and astronomy. He hopes to develop skills as an astro-photographer. After graduating from Warwick, he expects to study meteorology.

The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Zachery Jerchau as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on October 25, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Zachary is a Warwick High School senior and the son of Jennifer and Matt Jerchau. Zachary is an academic achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during his time at Warwick by earning recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll each year. He is also a member of the National Business Honor Society. He is the President of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) which is organized to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. He is also President of the National Business Honor Society, Treasurer of Student Council, a Student Council Representative and member of the Men in Business Club. Zachary exemplifies the Rotary value of “Service Above Self”. He volunteers extensively across Warwick. Zachary serves as a Teacher Assistant for the business department and the athletic director. Zachary is part of the Warwick's Link Crew, a high school transition program in which leaders are positive role models and mentors who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school. In addition, he is a volunteer with Warwick’s Peers Assisting Learning Support (PALS), a student-run organization which pairs classmates with and without special needs in an assortment of group activities. Zachary is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a community working to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. He attends Calvary Church, where he assists with the livestream presentations, volunteers in the second grade children’s ministry and is a member of the youth leadership team. Currently, Zachary works on the customer service team at Bomberger’s Store and at Country Home Catering. In the future, Zachary is considering further study and training in the fields of business, law enforcement, homeland security or government.

 On October 11, Lititz Rotary present Lyndsey Mackie, Director of Development for the Byrnes Health Education Center in York, with a gift of $2,000 to support their programs. At the meeting, Mackie expressed her gratitude for our Rotary’s long-term commitment and faithful support in providing funding for the center throughout the 25 years of our partnership. She stated that the support Rotary provides is vital to the success of the center. She also reviewed the many programs, 52 in all, that the center provides for school students. The Byrnes Health Education Center has a student-centered curriculum which is delivered by the request of partnering school systems. By the numbers, the Byrnes Health Education Center provides services to 14 counties in Pennsylvania as well as 17 additional US states and four Canadian provinces. The center recently completed a four million dollar building project which enables it to provide state-of-the-art facilities for accessing instruction.

 The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Grace Kegel as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on September 20 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Grace is a Warwick High School senior and the daughter of Stephanie and Robert Kegel. Grace is an academic achiever and has has demonstrated academic excellence during her time at Warwick by earning recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll each year. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. To exemplify the Rotary value of “Service Above Self”, Grace has an extensive volunteer
experience at Warwick. She is a member of the Rotary sponsored Interact Club at Warwick High School, which is a club for young people ages 12-18 who join together to tackle issues in their community that they care most about. Interact clubs carry out hands-on service projects, make international connections, develop leadership skills and have fun! Grace also volunteers with the UNITE Club, a Warwick service club which plans and hosts Warwick’s annual Mini-THON. All of the proceeds from Warwick’s Mini-THON go directly to the support Four Diamonds Fund's mission of ending childhood cancer and supporting (financially and emotionally) the families of childhood cancer patients. While a Middle School Student, Grace helped start the Aevidum Club and continues to be involved with the club today. Aevidum is a student organization with the goal to create positive mental health environments where all students feel accepted, appreciated, acknowledged, and cared for in schools and communities across the nation. Grace is also active with Warwick’s Link Crew, a high school transition program in which leaders are positive role models and mentors who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school. At the conclusion of her Junior year, Grace was selected to participate in RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), which is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts with an objective to develop leadership skills as a leader while having fun and making connections. Grace’s active and engaging scholastic experience includes participation in Show Choir, the Debate Club, leadership with Women of the Future and President of the Model United Nations group and History Club. As a Junior, Grace participated in the Senator for a Day program with Senator Ryan Aument. In the future, Grace has her sights set on earning a degree in International Relations and Foreign Policy and expects to pursue a career in the US State Department as a Foreign Service Officer or with the United Nations.

 The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Nico Tocci as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on April 26, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Nico, a Warwick High School senior, is the son of Maria and Pat Tocci. Nico is a Warwick Senior, an excellent student and outstanding athlete. He has been on the distinguished honor roll the last three years and was on the Honor Roll before then. Nico received recognition as a 3-time Lancaster Lebanon League All-Academic, a Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association (PWCA) All-Academic and received a United States Marine Corp (USMC) Character and Leadership Award. Through hard work practicing, training and competing in national events, Nico has made continuous improvement and this year achieved outstanding results as a member of the Warwick wrestling team. Wrestling at 113/120 lbs., he earned an all-around record of 40 – 6, placed 1st in the Sectional Tournament, 2nd at Districts and placed 8th in the State tournament. When not training and competing Nico enjoys assisting with the Warwick Youth Wrestling program His performance in scholastic wrestling competition and his work in off season tournaments earned him recognition from the United States Air Force Academy wrestling coaches, who offered him a scholarship. He will enter the Air Force Academy in July of this year and begin the process of becoming a member of their wrestling team. At this point, Nico is uncertain of the specific area of study he will pursue at the Academy but has an interest in cybersecurity and pilot school for drones. In the long term, he would like to continue to serve our country and is considering a career with the FBI or CIA.

 The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Ryan Fink as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on March 22, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Ryan, a Warwick High School senior, is the son of Signe and Steve Fink. Ryan is an academic achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during his time at Warwick by earning recognition on the Honor Roll or Distinguished Honor Roll each semester. He also earned membership in the Business Honor Society. To exemplify the Rotary value of “Service Above Self”, Ryan is a volunteer at Warwick’s PALS, Peers Assisting Learning Support, a student-run organization which pairs classmates with and without special needs in an assortment of group activities - including bowling and other outings. He is also a volunteer with UNITE, a Warwick service club which plans and hosts Warwick’s annual Mini-THON. Extra-Curricular Activities for Ryan include participation in Student Council and Men in Business. Additionally, he is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, an educational association of student members preparing for careers in business or who are just simply interested in learning more about the free enterprise system. Ryan is an outstanding athlete. A four year varsity member, he served as Captain of and played small forward for Warwick’s championship basketball team. He was also a 2 year varsity player on Warwick’s championship football team. Ryan also participated for two years on the Unified Track team. He enjoys volunteering to assist younger football and basketball players learn and develop their athletic skills. His experiences include being a Teaching Assistant for Mr. Landis and participating in Open Campus at Bonfield Elementary. Ryan has also worked at Giant. Ryan will attend Lebanon Valley College and major in Early Childhood Education. He also expects to continue playing football.

 The Rotary Club of Lititz is collecting funds to support the Rotary Club of Szczecin (Poland) Ukraine Aide Appeal ( https://www.rotary.szczecin.pl/aktualnosci_html103.php#en) to aid Ukrainian refugees coming to Poland to escape the terror inflicted on their people and country by Russian aggressors. While our club has already donated $10,000 in support of Ukrainian refugees, we will be making another donation from club members and other community members. Donations must be received by March 22, 2022 and can be sent, via check, payable to The Rotary Club of Lititz, PO Box 28, Lititz, PA 17543, with a note on the check that funds are for Ukraine relief.

 The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Matthew Williams as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on February 22, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Matthew, a Warwick High School senior, is the son of Rachel and Jay Williams. Matthew is an academic achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during his time at Warwick by earning recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll. He participated in the local scout program with Cub Scout Pack 44 and attended Camp Mack. He also volunteers with the Warwick baseball program and can be found working as a Host at Ciro’s Italian Bistro. As an athlete, Matthew excels at baseball. He is a 6’ 5” tall right handed pitcher and also plays 1st base. In addition to playing baseball at Warwick, he plays for the Lititz Oddfellows and the Keystone State Bombers. He helped the Lititz Oddfellows earn LNP Tournament Championships in 2019 and 2021 and was named to the All-Lancaster-Lebanon League First Team in 2021. The Keystone State Bombers make their home at Keystone State Baseball & Softball Academy located in Manheim, PA. The purpose of the Bombers program is to assist players that have the ability and the desire to play at the next level in preparing to do so. The program focus is on instruction and training of athletes and the importance of achieving academic excellence in the classroom. Matthew will attend Millersville University in the Fall and will major in Business. He earned a baseball scholarship and is looking forward to playing for Millersville and Win a PSAC Championship.

 The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Gavin Clausen as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on January 18, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Gavin, a Warwick High School senior is the son of Cathleen and Jeffrey Clausen. Gavin is an academic high achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during his time at Warwick. Each year in high school he has earned recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll and currently ranks 2nd in his class academically. Gavin is a member of the National Honor Society and is the current membership chairperson for the society. He is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Gavin has been named a Carbon Scholar for 2021 and earned 2nd place in the Chemistry Division at the 2020 North Museum Science & Engineering Fair. As a high scorer on the PSAT/NMSQT, Gavin received Letters of Commendation in recognition of his outstanding academic promise. Commended Students are named based on a nationally applied Selection Index score. He also received the Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Achievement in Analytical Chemistry Award. Additionally, Gavin received an AP Scholar with Distinction Award and in the Fall of 2021
earned Honors in the Pulse Program at the Hershey College of Medicine. To exemplify the Rotary value of “Service Above Self”, Gavin volunteers with Warwick's Link Crew, a high school transition program in which leaders are positive role models and mentors who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school. He has served over 120 hours volunteering in the Emergency Room at UPMC Lititz and, during the summer of 2021, he volunteered on Wellspan’s Hope Squad. In the Fall of 2021, Gavin served as a Teacher’s Assistant (TA) for Mrs. Roe’s Genetics class and then moved to a TA position for Mr. Balmer’s Chemistry Class. He will be able to serve as an advisor for the 10th grade science fair. Gavin served as a soccer referee with the U. S. Soccer Federation which referees local leagues and tournaments. He also recently received an EMT Certification and plans to ride with an ambulance crew at college. Additionally, Gavin competes on the Quiz Bowl Team at Warwick and enjoys playing basketball in the Lititz Rec League throughout the year. Following high school, Gavin expects to attend a university and major in Biology and follow a PreMed course of study. He will also continue to be an active volunteer through which he is grateful to be able to serve others and develop relationships.
